Aunt Z's Apple Butter


(Makes about 3 cups)

3 pounds apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup apple juice
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
12 packets NatraTaste Blue granulated sugar substitute

1. In a heavy pot combine apples, apple juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Heat slowly to boiling. Lower heat and simmer 15 minutes or until fruit is very soft.

2. Cool slightly and puree in blender or food processor.

3. Return puree to stove and simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, until fruit is desired consistency. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Stir in NatraTaste Blue.

4. Place in jars or freezer containers. If freezing, be sure to leave 1/2 inch space at top for expansion.

Per serving (1 tablespoon): 19 calories, 0 g protein, 0 g fat, 5 g carbohydrate, 0 mg cholesterol, 0 mg sodium.
